Membership/Joining Trade members Jobs General Questions NOT GETTING OUR EMAILS? Data Protection Disclaimer Membership/Joining Q. Why is my email address mandatory? A. There are many reasons a valid email address is needed. Firstly the system uses it to notify you of joiners/jobs, validate your joining details, payments etc. but mostly it is needed because this is an Internet based system and all services are provided through the Internet. Sending an activation link to your email address along with capturing your IP address when you join is another way that we can validate jobs that are posted, believe it or not there are people out there who have nothing better to do than waste your and our time by adding fictitious jobs or details. If your email address is not valid, the system will delete your record. Q. Is your payment process secure? A. The payment is secure and is processed through "WorldPay" part of the Royal Bank of Scotland. For more information on their security please visit http://www.worldpay.co.uk/about/index.php Q. Where do I get an invoice or VAT receipt? A. As soon as your payment is accepted a receipt is emailed to you. Please remember to check your spam boxes too as many ISPs nowadays block legitimate businesses as well as those annoying spammers. Q. What is the security code required by WorldPay? A. To improve security most credit and debit cards have a code printed on the rear of the card, usually found above the strip where you write your signature. Most transactions require the last three digits of this number for verification purposes. Q. Do I have to give a telephone number? A. If you are a customer, the answer is yes when joining but this will never be seen by trades people unless you post a job. If you are joining as a trades person the answer is also yes. We suggest trades include a land line as many of our homeowners are wary about people that only give out mobile numbers. Any and all information that is held by us about you is only used for the purpose of this business. If you post a job of course we will pass that information onto registered trades who ask for it. If you are a trade of course you want to be contacted by customers. We do not use any of this information for other purposes and do not pass/sell it on to other organisations e.g. for advertising purposes. Q. I just joined as a trade but I cannot see my ad A. When you are logged in, just use the SEARCH FOR TRADES feature in MY ACCOUNT and you will be able to see your own advert Q. I forgot my username/password A. Go to the home page and click on the ‘forgotten username/password box. Enter your email address and we will send you an email with your log in details. You must however provide the email address you used when you joined. Trade members Q. Are the trades people on your site legally registered? A. When joining, we ask in both our terms and conditions and through the site that trades are registered and legal. We review the records of our members in order to trace anyone not legally trading. People legally trading may include others who are registered in other countries (UK removers, translators, UK estate agents for example). We do ask people to state their registration details Because we do not want 'au noir' people on the site, we do check status and have already removed people who said they were applying for a SIRET number but who when given the opportunity to update their registration progress, were obviously not. In the future we will be adding an advice section for customers, regarding checking registration and insurance of all trades people they use, from this site or from wherever they find them. The Riviera Reporter has agreed to let us publish some of their articles regarding the dangers of using unregistered, illegal and uninsured trades people. We use several online services to check registration and we do this before activating memberships Q. Can I advertise my trade in your job section? A. No, this section is for jobs only and will only ever be seen by trades people, not customers, who do not have access to this area of the system. All jobs are validated before they are approved so only what are deemed to be genuine jobs make it onto the site Q. I cannot find the trade I am looking for in my area. A. Try neighbouring areas, especially if you are near a boundary. If you can still not find anyone, poat details of the job/work you need to be done. We have many members who are not yet paid up but monitor the site each day looking for jobs before becoming members. We also have many members who although not yet full members, still receive details by email, (minus contact information) of jobs posted so they can decide if they wish to join. You can also ask the system to notify you when that trade joins in your area. Click on ‘Change notification settings’ in my account Q. Is it only building trades that you offer? A. No. We do include many other trades and services. We want to focus purely on trades and services and nothing else like (selling homes, tourism, letting holiday homes, and others) and we envisage the list of service/trade categories growing as demand rises. If you think yours is not really covered and you want to join, suggest a generic one that we can add and we will as long as it is generic enough for others to use too. Q. Can I offer more than one trade in the same advert/listing? A. Yes you may select as many trades as you offer and for which you are legally registered, for the same fee (no extra charge). Q. How do I find out if it is worth advertising on your sites? A. Go to the home page of the site and in the box on the right hand column, try a search by clicking on ‘How many jobs in my area’ to see how many jobs are currently posted for your trades and also to see how many homeowners will be emailed your contact information because they asked to be told when you join. The search will not only show you jobs that are available but will tell you when the job was posted, the trades needed, where (nearest town/postcode) what criteria the homeowner will use to select/evaluate a company and how many other trades have received the contact information and promise to call. Jobs Q. I received a job notification but cannot find the job posted A. We send notifications out within 2 hours of a job being posted and approved. By the time you log in to retrieve the information many things may have happened to the job. - The author may have removed it - We may have removed it - The details may have changed to now NOT include one of your areas or trades Q. Why can I not get details of the jobs? A. You must have joined as a trades person, with a current (un-expired) membership before you can view the details of any job posted. Q. I asked to be notified about jobs posted but I have never received any notifications A. Please check to make sure your ‘job notification settings’ have been activated. Log in, and in ‘my account, select change notification settings. Of course it is possible that to date no jobs have been posted for your trade in your area. A. It is also possible that you are a foreign (not France) registered company and therefore have no French address for us to use to send you job details in which case you will need to monitor the site more frequently for jobs posted in your coverage areas. General Questions Q. Why should I use FATIF/TUA when I have work already? A. To help secure work for the future, to get a rating that will show future clients/customers, get your name in front of a growing number of homeowners needing your services. Q. Do you use my contact information for anything else? A. No - We only use your contact information for the purposes of our business e.g. for homeowners to find you, when notifying homeowners that you have joined, when sending you an email about a new job, when sending a newsletter to you (which you can unsubscribe to by clicking the link at teh bottom of the newsletter) However, because your contact details are on our sites for homeowners to see, this means they are there for others to see also, as they are on other places such as Yellow Pages etc. We do not sell/pass on your details to anyone who is not a member of our sites. Q. Are your charges value for money? A. Our charge is a fraction of what it would cost to advertise in newspapers and magazines and there, one only gets an advert, and certainly none of the other features like searching for jobs, getting email notification of new jobs, having your details sent to people who are looking for your trade, when you join. Q. I do not have my own computer; can I telephone to add my details? A. No. This service is provided through the Internet only. Q. How do we add a link between our sites? A. Please go to our links page (click in the menu on the left hand side of this page) and follow the instructions. Q. What/where are your terms and conditions? A. At the bottom of every page there is a link to our Terms and Conditions NOT GETTING OUR EMAILS? Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) are blocking more and more emails from genuine businesses. If you are expecting emails from us please check 1. Your deleted/trash/spam boxes on your email software (Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird etc...) 2. Your email via your ISP - for example Orange and Wanadoo have web mail where you can log in and they they store emails they consider to be spam Data Protection Q. What are my rights under the data protection act and How do I see what information you hold about me/us? A. This can be done at any time on this site by just logging in and using the MY ACCOUNT facility. All data held by us is data you entered. Disclaimer We ask that all trade members provide a valid registration number and are legally trading in France. We also display articles in our News section about what to look for if you are employing a service and how to get registered if you want to trade in France. If you find one who is not please report them immediately to member-support@findatradeinfrance.com and we will remove them. It is not our responsibility to police the registration system, we make checks that are reasonable but that will not always catch the determined black market workers.
